the cold that caught up with me....

Hey guys

Sorry for the severe lack of updates but things have been a little crazy here all of sudden... not to mention that I'm now lying in bed with a bad case of what I fondly call the "end of semester loogies".... you know the kind that starts in your head and slowly
makes its way down your body, I'm in the fourth day with means its well into my chest and I'm stuck with that annoying cough that sounds like your putting it on for attention...

Any way, enough moping, I thought I'd put this up as I was pretty proud of how it came out... I'd put the animation I did up but as always my internet connection wont let me (I'll wait till I'm back on campus)

sorry I've been a little out of it, just finished of the book the other day and handed it in for printing, hopefully it will be done by Wednesday in time for class, AND I finished my essay (woohoo) so now I'm relaxing, doing some drawing and watching Toy Story 2, then its of to bed (I'm so tired I had a three hour granny nap tis afternoon ^_^

Hey everyone

I was at work all day today then uni from 5 to 7 so I thought I'd take a bit of a drawing break tonight... I know I know
I should be doing my essay.. but I have 6 more days (very unlike me I know : )

Any way, hope you like this, the style is inspired by Sean Galloway, the character is my own though.. well mostly, the outfit is inspired by "The secret garden"

I didn't have time to finish it of, but I'll do it up nicely in flash or illustrator tomorrow... after some essay research ^_^

The back, a back, what a back...

Haven't been doing much drawing unfortunately, just trying to get everything together with my book, but I did this for the back page, its the mirror image of the previous drawing... thanks again Ant for the inspiration

finger painting

Hey bloggers,

tried to upload this last night but blogspot was being slow... I drew the pic with pencil on paper (inspired by Annette Marnat) then coloured it in photoshop using my track pad : ) nothing like a bit of finger painting

I'm back, and now things have wrapped up on the animation its time to move on to the book, unfortunately my In Design has gone all screwy the very day I need it (surprise surprise) so while I'm waiting for the wonderful ant to fix it I thought I'd start designing the title page and chapter separators

Hope you like what I have so far, I did this with the touch pad on my laptop again (I'm starting to get the hang of it)

Thought I'd do this one at uni as its about 50 times faster and more reliable to upload the pics... the bottom one needs a little work, but I thought I'd go old school with the top girl and use my good'ol faber Castel pencils... it came out better than I thought it would but I think I need more practice with my colouring in....been a while ^_^

I'm Back... did you miss me?

Well as you can see from the title, I'm back from Brisbane and ready to jump straight into blogging... ok thats a lie, I got back on Friday so didn't technically get "straight into it" but considering I was extremely buggered I figured I'd catch up on some sleep so I could provide some more decent entries than what would have happened on Friday night (polar bear in a snow storm style) ^_^

Thanks Ant for the message, and thanks to those that hung around, as a present I give you a few sketches, some I did tonight and others just before I left... enjoy!

The one of the girl in the hat was inspired by the Dutches with Keira Knightley, if you haven't seen it already, do... its a great film, just the right amount of funny and sad... made me appreciate being a girl in this era a lot more : )

Here are a couple more pages, I promise I'll have pretty scanned versions by tomorrow, but in the meantime here they are in all their laptop camera goodness :)

The animals are mostly taken from favourite movies and the other is a little funny sequence about the hazards of animation... beware animating late into the night as you tend to fall asleep in the wrong situations :)

- this actually happened to my sister, we were eating spaghetti one night when we where kids and deep in conversation we were suddenly interrupted by a strange gurgling noise coming from the end of the table... Alex had fallen asleep on her spaghetti and was blowing bubbles in the sauce.
After cracking ourselves laughing mum managed to get her out of the highchair, wash her face and hair and put her to bed all without her waking up ^_^

Hey everyone...

yep back with another page for the book, I did this one tonight and I'll try and do another one before i fall asleep... which may actually happen while I'm drawing... serisouly, I'm that tired right now :)

I know looking at this your probably thinking... why cars?? well I've decided I should probably do a few pages of different things (besides people) just to show that I can draw other things as well... I'm thinking of doing some animal pages and maybe some accessory stuff... if you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them

Big Screen Blowout reminder!

well things are looking good at the moment, I'm up to 28 pages on my book and have pretty much finished my animation... the only thing left is recording the sounds and figuring out one of the sequences so its a little smoother, can't wait to show everyone when its done... just a reminder to any one interested there will be two screenings of our major works,

the first is on the 18th of november at the Chauvel cinema in Paddington town hall - the digital media stuff starts at 6 then the time based art begins at 9... its all free so come one done and support us

the other one is COFA annual - its from the 26th to the 30th and will basically be a massive party cos it includes everyone graduating in 08, there will be art on display, screenings, food, drinks and music - should be really fun!!

Ok, so I finally finished most of the colouring.. some sequences are a do-over but at least majority of its done : )
Any way, to celebrate I bought "the art of kung fu panda" ITS FANTASTIC!! Nicholas Marlet is a GENIUS, seriously,
best 75 bucks I ever spent : )
Any way I spent tonight just drooling over it and trying to capture the movement and delicate shapes Marlet does
- turned out like this...

To colour is to be... really bored

Yep, thats pretty much all I've been doing these days - in fact I now have a bit of a claw hand because I've been using the mouse so much : ) but 6 more scenes to go and I should be pretty much done, then all I have to do is lay it out in After Effects, add the vocals (which I kinda have to record) to the music and then I"LL BE FINISHED! woohoo! this has taken so much longer than I thought it would - and been so much harder, I'm sore, frustrated and extremely sleepy, but its been a fun ride so far...

above is a little snipit of the colouring style I've been using - its a scene for one of the "lotti lotti lotti" sequences

I started this a few days ago - just a rough sketch in flash then put in a sky and boat - I felt motivated today to finish it of so I put in the reeves and it all started flowing from there - I really like the colours in this one, I think I'm finally getting the hang of using colours - hope you like it : )

Aggghhh its a Yetti!

hey everyone

Hope your all having a great weekend and enjoying the sunshine : ) well... for the few hours it was sunny... I finished a draft run through of my major work, surprisingly I think I have too much animation, so I'm going to have to go back and take out some frames - everything also looks really fast, but its too late to change that now I think, especially as I haven't even started colouring!

The images above I did today, I needed a little creative break from my major work so I thought I'd surf the web for some inspiration then draw some fun stuff - I came across this cool site that gives you ideas of what to draw so I picked "Yetti" and "Star wars" I'm going to colour the yeti in later (I need an early night tonight as I'm working at the restaurant tomorrow) - oh bummer, its already midnight... oh well

This little baby took me about 3 hours - I pretty much wanted to test out everything I could in flash : ) - I did it with the touchpad on my latop - so kinda like finger painting, next time I'll try with a waicom, but I'm quite proud of it. I feel pretty down today, you know when your on a roll and literally fall of - well I did that today with my animation and landed on something kinda hard and pointy... But I figured I wouldn't end my good streak of making posts - something thats at least in my control... this is an oldie but one I haven't put up before so I thought I'd give you a squiz, any way - thats all from me, its time for bed... maybe I can climb back on the roll tomorrow :P
